The former Fort Ord Army base is home to one of the most extant maritime chaparral communities in California. The table below provides a list of all the species known to occur on the entire base. Much of the area is still under Army ownershipand is unavailable for research and education as the base was used for livetraining exercises and ammunition still exists throughout the area. Ammunition cleanup efforts are on going and additional lands will be open to public use after ammunition removal is complete and the land is transferred to BLM.

A working draft of plants located on Fort Ord Natural Reserve can be downloaded here.
